Women (and men who love women) It is time for us to stand up for ourselves and our girls!!! If we don’t we lose more then ourselves. We lose freedom! We are the new revolution! We will NOT comply! I am usually not very outspoken in my beliefs. This time I can’t stay silent any longer. Women are losing the battle to be called individuals and just plain people who matter. We have got to stop then trend in our politics and in our thinking before women are turned into nothing but cattle that can not make a single decision on their own!

Make Me a Sammich

I sit here taking deep breaths, swallowing, my chest tight, trying to write how I feel about what I’m about to tell you, but I find I don’t have words that truly convey the horror. That and the sense of standing on the precipice of change that will either truly liberate us as a species or destroy us altogether. I will say this: I’m ready to fight–to really, truly fight–and I’m wide open to ideas.

This week* RH Reality Check released the results of a study that confirmed a terrifying trend many of us have feared for some time: that women are being arrested and imprisoned for “crimes” such as having a miscarriage, delivering a stillborn child, planning to have an abortion, or declining a test recommended by their doctor.

Yes, you heard right. From RH Reality Check:

A woman in Oregon who did not comply with a doctor’s…

  1. Jackie, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I’m not surprised by this in the least as my doctor has shared with me how she is watched to make sure she gets her patients to comply with annual testing and so on. My son is a correction’s officer in a woman’s prison and yes, they do shackle all pregnant women who leave the prison for medical exams and delivery.

but to force a woman into a C section when they know she might die? Just to try and save a baby? So BOTH of them die? How is this right? And she wasn’t in jail. She was in court because she refused to do it. Her dr reported her and she ended up in court. Its pretty damn shameful when women no longer have any rights. I swear this is worse then before the turn of the century!

      1. I agree with you, I was commenting on part of the original post that mentioned women are shackled when delivering when they are incarcerated. It is shameful, yet here in PA when a woman was found to test positive for drugs in her system the courts couldn’t do anything about it because PA has deemed the unborn child is not a person until born to protect a woman’s right to abortion. It angers me because if you are going to have the baby they should be able to do something to protect the baby from street drugs the mother is taking.

Now I will agree with you there. But these cases are not criminals they are every day patients. And that’s criminal. After all these laws are being passed women are no longer individuals with rights. That scares the crap out of me. If these laws were in effect when I got pregnant I would have ended up in jail because I miscarried. 4 times! It scares me no end for other women.
