I just had to get in my favorite thing to do. Friday Fictioneers! I missed last Friday due to my moving, so I was not going to miss this Friday! I’m still unpacking, so I decided to take a break and write. I have missed writing so much this past month! Thank goodness I won’t have to go through that again for a long time! If ever……..
So on with the good stuff! Please join us in Friday Fictioneers, it’s a great event every Friday and you will have lots of fun! If you don’t write, read! We have so many talented people participating in this, so please click on our Team Leader’s name (Rochelle Wisoff-Fields) and scroll down and click on the cute little blue guy. He will take you to some fantastic stories, poems or writings, all from the same picture!
THE CHALLENGE:
Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and an end. (No one will be ostracized for going over or under the word count.)
THE KEY:
Make every word count.
So here is my flash fiction story, not one of my best I’m afraid. I think I need to get back to practice. 😉
Rachel looked at the wonderfully whimsical facade of Casa Batllo with wide eyes. Hearing her name, Rachel looked over to see her best friend rushing to her. Hugging Rachel, her friend dragged her to a small crowd of people. She recognized her friends from their mystery theater group, “The Murder Architects”.
They had won the prestigious award for best Mystery Dinner Theater. The greatest from around the world competed for the award. The prize was a week in Casa Batllo under the tutelage of a world-famous director. It was going to be the best week of her life!
happy to see you back at your “writing table” again! Hope your unpacking will be done soon. Last time when we moved (Dec 2010) I said I don’t want to do it again… and so far I’m happy right here. I hope you’ll feel the same of your new place 🙂

Thank you Tiny! It’s good to be back to ‘work’. I really hate moving. After the move it’s hard to find things, even though I marked all the boxes! It’s amazing how hard it is to find things sometimes. The kitchen was the worse though. I need to find a new hobby besides cooking! I had tons of boxes just for the kitchen! ugh. 🙂

Thank goodness your move is over, Jackie. Moving is my least favorite thing to do. I like your take on this. It seems so fitting! Nice job.

Sounds like an amazing week! Glad the murders are all theatrical this week. As for unpacking….well, at least you’re moved and in. Good luck and don’t forget to grab some little pockets of relaxation time. You need those, too, (and so do all around you!) 🙂

Hi Janet. Yes I am trying to find those little snippets of relaxing time. Hard to do when I want it all done! But I just can’t do it all. So I found time to write which is the best relaxing time around. 🙂

Very exciting prompt; so many possibilities lie ahead (pick your genre). Made me want to read more. Also, I loved your starting alliteration “wonderfully whimsical.”

That’s a great starter for a murder mystery. Well done. How much longer before everything is unpacked?

Thanks Maddie. I was a bit off with that story after not posting for so long. ugh. But now maybe I should look at it with new eyes. 🙂
The unpacking is almost done. Ok, it’s not really, but I am trying to be optimistic. hahaha. The kitchen is done, but all the other rooms including my office still have boxes sitting in them. ugh. I was so tired from the last month of hell that I have done whats needed and thats about it.
