THE CHALLENGE:
Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and an end. (No one will be ostracized for going over or under the word count.)
THE KEY:
Make every word count.
This week’s picture:
Genre: The future if we are not careful (100 words)
Two men stood before the strange creature, clipboards in hand.
“The parents were?”
Zebras
“How old is it?
Six months
“You only fed the parents genetically modified crops?”
Yes and the offspring
“Should we report it?”
No. We have orders from Monsanto big wigs to continue with project and say nothing.
“Aren’t these same crops being sold to the public?”
In limited areas, yes.
Newspaper headline the next day:
‘Baby born in America with the head of a bird and the tail of a cat. Doctors don’t know the cause of this phenomenon just yet. Baby is healthy and chirping.’
The Last Chapter 
Baby is healthy and chirping. Excellent line. Suggestion on saving words, instead of, how old is it? Consider just, Age? Now you have 3 more words to put into descriptions and actions

Good one, Jackie! I like how you brought into Monsanto into it, who I refer to as The Evil Company. I haven’t written mine yet, but thought of a similar approach. It’s tough one!

Hi. I’m from Monsanto and either you will print a retraction and state you were absolutely wrong praise our company, or you will be sued for $7.8 billion by our team of 3,000 lawyers and one GMZebra. What’s your choice?

A retraction? Never! sue away, one can’t get nothing from nothing. Hey I’ve dealt with the IRS and won! Bring it!

We’re currently facing a campaign here in Europe from Monsanto and their ilk to pursuade the EU to relax controls on GM seed. The dangers are overexaggerated, they say.

Really fun one this time, Jackie. The nice thing about living just outside of a big Amish community is being able to buy organic and heirloom produce during the summer. I think I’m going to freeze a lot more this summer. Might have to turn the big upright freezer back on!

We have a farmers market, but it’s only open during the summer for 4 hrs on Saturday. Most of the time there is no way I can get there in time. I envy you. 🙂
