Friday Fictioneers ~~ June 21, 2013

THE CHALLENGE:

Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and an end. (No one will be ostracized for going over or under the word count.)

THE KEY:

Make every word count.

Another fine edition of Friday Fictioneers. It might be a bit wet, but look around that please. We here in Southern Alberta have lots of flooding. It seems it’s our turn for Mother Nature’s wrath. I’m lucky to have my place on high ground. Others are not that lucky. My good thoughts go out to all those thousands upon thousands of people around here who are flooded or about to be. The rivers haven’t even reached their crest yet. I’m afraid the worse is yet to come.

If you are interested in joining us on Friday Fictioneers, please click on Rochelle’s name and read the few rules we try to go by. If you just want to read some fantastic flash fiction click on her name then scroll down to the cute little blue critter and click on him. He will take you to the land of Oz. Really. Well ok, to the land of great writers. Better?

I always wondered what went through these guy’s minds as they stand guard so stoically. This is my tongue in cheek look at it.

Genre: Humor (99 words)

My nose itches, I wonder if I should scratch it?

Better not, brass might be watching.

Hey that cloud looks like a Zebra! No, more like a white horse.

I wonder if I fell asleep standing here if I would fall on my bayonet?

Oh God here comes another group of tourists. They will try to make me smile, they always do.

The water looks so blue today. Wish I was there to enjoy it. Eh, I have work to do, if you wanna call this work.

Now I gots a cramp in me leg. It’ll be good to get off and have a beer. Now I’m thirsty!
