Friday Fictioneers ~~ July 19, 2013

THE CHALLENGE:

Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and an end. (No one will be ostracized for going over or under the word count.

THE KEY:

Make every word count.

Another Friday has rolled around. Here I thought it was Thursday, somehow I lost a day. 😦

I would like to extend a formal invitation to all my readers. Please come join us at Friday Fictioneers. You can participate by writing a short 100 word story to go with the picture, or just read what almost 100 writers have to say about the same picture. It’s rather fascinating.

Our delightful hostess is Rochelle Wisoff-Fields and she’s also one hell of a writer. Just click on her name to join in on the fun.

In the meantime you can read my contribution below. I love comments and helpful criticisms. Tally ho!

It’s not my best by a long shot. I couldn’t seem to concentrate today. Eh well, it is what it is.

Genre: Crime Fiction (100 words)

Keeping his eye on the man at the counter of the coffee shop he pretended to fix something on his bike.

He watched the man hand off a package to another man.

His lips hardly moved as he spoke in a whisper.

“The parcel has been delivered.”

The voice in his ear answered.

“Keep an eye on main player. We have the other one.”

He slowly sauntered over to the counter and sat a few stools over from the man he was told to watch.

He heard the man say into his phone, “It’s done.”

Done it was, as the CSI cuffed him.

“Whose bike is that anyway? It’s been there for days.”

“No idea. Did you manage to get hold of the exterminator? The smell from the cellar is getting worse, bound to be something dead down there.”

The rats nibbled at fingers and toes. The body squeezed behind the large deep freeze, oozed dark fluid.

“Good morning, Dan the Exterminator at your service. Where’s this smell then?”

Police tape surrounded the café a couple of hours later. The bicycle’s owner found at last.

  2. Hi Jackie
I got in eventually! Not sure what’s happening with wordpress this week but I’ve struggled to open a lot of the links.
Great story this week, I love the way everyone was watching everyone else (just checking behind me to make sure no one’s watching me!)
