Friday Fictioneers ~~ October 18, 2013

For my regular readers I want to apologize for not getting the continuing story “On The Run” posted on Tuesday as promised. I’ve had a paying job come up and it’s deadline is the 25th so I’ve been busy with that plus other personal stuff.

I will get it done and it will be posted this Tuesday, Oct 22! So hang in there,  Amber and crew are coming back. For those of you who haven’t read it yet you can click on the title above and it will take you to the latest installment. Thank you all for being so patient with me.

Now on to Friday Fictioneers for this week!

THE CHALLENGE:

Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and an end. (No one will be ostracized for going a few words over the count.)

THE KEY:

Make every word count.

Genre: Literary fiction (100 words)

The only sound  was the soft whooshing  of  water lapping at rubber wheels.

Those carts were the only thing left standing. The building that they belonged to was  gone. Vanished in the great flood. Like it had never been.

Soldiers standing in defiance of Mother Nature. Empty baskets waiting to be filled, but never will again.

Everything gone, washed away, but those sentinels of metal. They are the only thing left to mark the spot of a town, life, people, gone now.

Echoes of laughter suddenly heard upon soft wind, drowned in the cold water not to be again.

  1. Too many floods like that of late. I’m disappointed that you let earning a living and personal things get in the way of your blog! Gosh! What does that say about you? 🙂

    Hope your weekend’s wonderful.

    1. It is actually from the Middlest Sister, she did it especially for me after I won it in a contest. Itsn’t it great? There is another one by her that shows every now and then.

        1. It was pretty cool. She made the dog look like mine. His name is Sam and he’s my writing buddy. 🙂 I love her blog too. She has talent for sure.
