The First Snow and Other Things I’m Up to My Neck In

Well, we got our first snow yesterday and this morning. Suppose to only get a few cm and came away with more than that. Probably a good 6 inches (15 cm). And I don’t have a shovel!

We left our shovel at the old house by mistake. Now we need to go get another one. Maybe after the snow melts. 😉 Because man it’s cold out there! It’s -9c (16F) and I don’t wanna go out. I am NOT ready for this yet!

Other news, I’m still working on the final segment of my serial story “On The Run”. I’m so sorry it’s been taking me so long to finish, but I will get it done this week! My characters have taken over the story and instead of butting heads with them like I had the last week, I’m letting them run with it! (Pun intended 😉 )

I haven’t been posting much lately, but I have been busy writing! I just finished my paid job ( I do like getting paid). It was a 12 page newsletter for a big business. Got it done with a few days to spare. Whew!

I’m also working on some posts for this week. Some are going to be about ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night! Because, well it is coming up on Halloween and that just yells ghost stories! One is a real ghost story! It’s about a poltergeist that lived with us when I was a kid. Stay tuned for that one!

This Friday is November 1st and I’m getting geared up for NaNoWriMo again this year. Am I crazy or what? Okay, don’t answer that. For those of you that weren’t around here last November, NaNo is a month-long event where you write 50,000 words. It can be for a new story, poems, a bunch of short stories, anything really. The goal is to have a great start on a book after the month is over with. It’s a thrill ride all month!

Last year I did it and won. I’m still in editing mode on the book I worked on last year called “The Key”.

This year I am going off in a new direction for NaNo. I’ll keep you informed with updates all month. Maybe with some excerpts too! I’m also going to be doing other posts here and there. I won’t abandon you, I promise! Of course I will be doing Friday Fictioneers also! I love doing that and I’m not giving it up.

So, that’s what I have planned for your reading enjoyment. I’m going to be busy, busy, busy, but I’m loving it!

  1. Wow! You’re flying, chica! 😀 I’m glad your busy-ness has so much to do with the stuff you love– except for the whole snow thing, yikes! I complain when it drops to 50 here. Okay, fine. I complain when it drops to 60, ha! 🙂

  2. Although I like snow, I can’t say I’m sad to have missed this first, too-early round. Our former residence on Cleveland’s east side got a fair bit, I hear, but although Naperville had a flurry (pun also intended) of gorgeous flakes, they were, thankfully, on cosmetic. Best of luck with all your November writing. I’m doing a fair bit of traveling in Nov. so it’s a good thing I’m not doing something like that. Probably no FF story this week, either, as I will scarcely have time to read anyone else’s stories in return. But I’ll still be blogging.

    1. Well I am in Canada, so it’s not surprising we got this. It was lots more then they predicted. In a few days it will probably be gone. I hope. 😉
Have fun next month Janet! Take lots of pictures and I’m sure I will be reading your posts.

      1. You know I’ll be taking photos!! 🙂 Stop by any time. I’m sure the rest of the month I’ll be writing but since I leave early Thursday morning and don’t get back until the following Tuesday (two 13-hour drives at either end), that doesn’t leave much time for reading FF stories!

    1. Oh I love being busy, especially with writing. Yeah, me and hubby hunkered down today and didn’t go out. It’s cold out there! 🙂 Tomorrow though I have to go grocery shopping. ugh!

  3. Wow, you are one busy girl. How do keep from being overwhelmed? I have more to do than energy to do it. As for the snow, I have enough pictures to choke on. The last winter I was on that mountain, we weren’t sure the roof would hold. Done. I’ll take the rain any day. Good luck with Na No.

    1. Thanks. I like being busy, so it’s all good. I love writing so it’s even better. Also I’m very organized. That helps a whole lot. 🙂 As for the snow, I don’t like it if I have to go out in it or shovel it. But it looks pretty, just wish I had the pics without the actual snow. ha!

  4. As I was reading all I could think was poor Sam. He had to go out in that cold snow to do his business. I’m not doing the NaNoWri this time maybe next year. I’ve been busy which is a good thing. However NaNoWriMo has a group called the NY writers Coalition they meet on Wednesday twice but I’m only going to one. The instructor Ben Dolnick will give a prompt we have 15 minutes to write and then we share what we wrote with the group. It seems interesting. Good luck in reaching your 50,000 word goal.

    1. Sam actually loves the snow. He hates rain but loves snow, I sometimes wonder about the little guy. 🙂
It’s good that you are busy. It sounds like you should have fun at your meeting. Good luck in all you do!

      1. I have been crazy busy. Now that we are in transition I finally have time to catch up on blogging. Also I checked out your food blog and for some reason was unable to leave a comment. I attempted to do so several times. I love the soup recipes.

        1. I’ve been having problems on some blogs leaving comments also. I believe it’s a WP problem. Hopefully it will get resolved soon. I love soup so I’m always looking for good soup recipes. Thanks for visiting!
