My First Blizzard of the Season/More Holidays!

Good day people! Hope your Monday wasn’t too bad. Cheer up, it’s Tuesday now, Monday is history.

Yesterday we had our first official blizzard of the winter season in Southern Alberta Canada. Even my poor dog Sam didn’t go outside but twice yesterday. It snowed and we had high winds. I haven’t seen one like this in years. So of course I had to take a few pictures this morning. Brrrrr. It was damn cold out there. I didn’t drive anywhere because I wasn’t about to dig my poor minivan out of the snow. I didn’t need anything that bad today.

I even had to sweep off the snow that had blown in between the screen door and front door this morning! Now that was freaky. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of that. Alas, Sam had his legs crossed to go out so I didn’t think to take a picture of my snowy door.

So before I get to the holidays that are celebrated on December 3rd, I’ll show you a few pictures of the snow that fell yesterday. Hey, I braved the bitter cold for you, so I hope you appreciate the bad pictures. hahaha!

Now onto the holiday section. Every day this December I will be listing all the celebrations of the day! December seems to be especially busy with celebrations. Some are for really good causes, some are kind of strange. But every day should have a reason for being don’t you think?

So for today December 3:

Make a gift day ~~ Today is the day that you make a gift for someone. Who doesn’t like homemade gifts? It shows you care when you put time and effort into a gift. Time to show off that crafty side of you. Or that chef side as a homemade gift could be something yummy. Like homemade cookies, fudge, brownies, or even a casserole you froze to help some young parent have a day off of cooking! There are tons of things to do for gifts. So go ahead and get that glue and glitter out!

Roof Over Your Head Day ~~ Hey people I can’t make this stuff up myself! Yes, you read it right. Today is the day you celebrate ‘Roof over your head day’.  It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads. Personally I’m glad I have one, a roof, cause baby it’s cold out there!

Disabled Persons Awareness Day ~~ International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day celebrated annually on December 3. The day recognizes the achievements, contributions and abilities of people with disability. Now talk about a great thing to celebrate!

Read A New Book Month ~~ Now this one I can celebrate easily! I have so many books to read right now. So let’s celebrate this one folks and the best part is it’s all month-long!

There you have it for today. So go out or stay in and enjoy the specialness of today! See you tomorrow!

  1. WOW that was some snowstorm, beautiful. How awesome is that to celebrate what to most is the little things. To some of us they are huge especially the “roof over your head” having been homeless it means so much to me and I am very grateful for the roof over my head. YUMMY a casserole sounds great, casseroles are my favorite right after soup. Stay warm, healthy and embrace all those wonderful celebrations.

    1. It was a doosy of a storm! It is beautiful though as long as you don’t have to go out in it. I’ve been homeless or close to it a few times myself and I’m always grateful when I have one over my head. Have a wonderful day/night Becki! big hugs!

  3. Oh my gosh! We were at 50° today, and I stood outside wondering how long it would be before we had blowing snow and freezing temperatures. I guess we won’t have them, because they are in your neck of the woods! Your pictures are pretty, but they make me shudder! Brrrr!!! 🙂

I started a new book today! Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich. The reviews for the book are all over the map, but I’ m enjoying it.

Hope you are well, Jackie. My computer is in the shop, so I’m one-finger typing on my Nook. I’ll write to you soon!

    1. Maddie!!! I was wondering where you were! You wear out your computer lady? hahhaha! I like Janet Evanovich. I heart Takedown was good and some say it’s not her usual good. Eh, as long as you like it who cares what others say. I never listen to critics anyway. Call me a rebel. 😉 I’ll send you an email tonight or tomorrow. You might not be able to answer me soon but at least you can read! Big hugs

  4. Ooooo that snow looks wonderful!!!! We are supposed to get some here in the next few days *fingers crossed* though I do worry about the homeless people in our community… I’m hoping they find some shelter because it’s going to get super cold soon :-/ Your “roof over the head” day is definitely timely!

    1. The snow is great, as long as I look at it from the inside of my house. I hate shoveling. It got super cold here after the storm. Sunny but very cold. Thanks for stopping by Aussa!

  5. It’s incredible the things people come up with. Read a new book month? Gratitude for the roof over your head? My goodness. Like I’d need to be reminded for either. Thanks for the giggles.

    1. I know, but it’s fun to find out what they do come up with. There are some really fun ones coming up. So stay tuned as I’ll have some every day this month. People are strange. 🙂
