Here is a comic for Sam and Me. Last night we had the first sign of spring around our place. Sam wanted to go out and explore this so bad, but I wouldn’t let him. He pouted for hours. I’m pretty sure our nightly visitor wasn’t in my backyard, but I wasn’t taking chances in the dark.

Is their smell that pervasive? We don’t have such things here so I have little experience of their odour save for the cartoon. Good post Jackie.

Yes, Michael their smell is that pervasive. Think of a putrid dead flesh, with a strong dose of musk and you got a skunk. Almost. LOL The smell lingers long after they are gone from the surroundings. If they spray you or your dog it is so overwhelming you will be sick to your stomach and it’s hard to wash the smell off. Google skunk lol you will see …..

I shall take on board your advice. In Australia we don’t muck around with creatures that smell, ours will just kill you straight out.

That made me laugh out loud. I do know the smell of skunk well. My Schatzie saw 3 babies in our back yard one evening that seemed to want to play with her. I called her and she and I backed up as I babbled, Skunk, skunk, skunk, like I had lost my mind. She was so good and seemed to understand. I keep the recipe for skunk shampoo in my computer even though I no longer have a dog. You never know. Lordy, that smell goes on forever. I worried more about them and raccoons than the bear in our area that we often had wandering. Life was so much fun.:)

We had so many of them where I lived the smell was an everyday occurrence. Count yourself lucky and send a note if you need the recipe to wash him after an encounter. I hope you never need it. 🙂

Hi Jackie! I’m only visiting your blog tonight. I want to catch up with you a wee bit.
We have skunks around here. I’m going to get nailed one of these days. Our dog goes out on a leash, and some nights, I’m tired and in a hurry, so I dash out the back door without scoping the situation out first. I get out there, and the skunk smell is strong! Pete doesn’t want to have to dash back in the house, so I just stand there wondering where it is and if it’s going to get me. It hasn’t happened yet.
Maybe this year will be the year. 🙂

maddie!!!! Hey lady! Aw thanks for making me feel special! I am going to email you tomorrow, I was going to do it today, but time got away from me.
I am hating this time change, has messed me up this year. lol
I think this skunk has moved on as I haven’t smelled it lately. Don’t get caught by your skunk! They will usually leave as long as they don’t feel cornered you should be ok. 🙂
