Ten Things of Thankful #50 ~~ My List of Thankfuls

Lizzi over at Considerings and her co-hosts for Ten Things of Thankful are celebrating hitting #50 this weekend! Yay! It’s a wonderful idea that Lizzi came up with. By making the list, especially when you’ve had a tough week, makes you more aware of things in your life you are thankful for.

So please, join us and help celebrate being thankful!

Ten Things of Thankful Birthday Banner

1. I’m thankful for plans coming together. I have some long-range plans, that I’m not ready to reveal yet, but rest assured they are great! ย Things are falling into place and I couldn’t be happier. I love it when a plan comes together.

2. I’m thankful for friends. Best friend, long distance friends, online friends. They make me smile and make me feel loved. I hope I do the same for them.

3. I’m thankful for the warm weather! Finally, here in Alberta we are actually having a spring! It’s been warm and sunny and all the trees are leafed out. I was beginning to wonder if it would ever come. But it’s here and I’m grateful.

4. I’m thankful for blogging friends. I ask for favors and they go out of their way to help me. Can’t ask for better than that! So thank you Michael and Martin for doing that blogging process hop for me, you guys are awesome!

5. I want to thank Lizzi over at Considerings for having the concept of Ten Things of Thankful. Sometimes we need a nudge to think of things to be thankful for and you know what? We can always find something to be thankful for and that’sย a good thing. So go over to Lizzi’s place and read some of the awesome posts from all the bloggers who are thankful for something! Maybe even contribute yourself. If you can’t find 10 things I bet you can find at least 5.

6. I am thankful that I have lived in a place where I received an education, even though I am a female. I am doubly thankful that I live in a country where even though being female has its set of problems, I don’t have to be afraid just because I AM a ย female. Not like in some places in the world, where if you have read the news 2 sisters were raped and hung just because they were females. Now if that isn’t scary, I don’t know what is. Sure, we have ‘rape culture’, and we have our own set of problems. But these women, girls, females have it much, much worse and I wonder about a world that would let this happen and continue to let this happen this day and age.

7. I’m thankful for modern technology. Computers had made this big old world a lot smaller. The internet is not perfect, but it’s pretty darn close. If I want to learn about something, I look it up. If I want to read a certain book, I find it and buy it, or sometimes get it free! I don’t have to waste time or gas by going to the library to try to find it. I can do it all in the comfort of my office chair and home. How great is that?

8. I’m thankful for people who have that artist’s knack of taking photos. I have been looking online for photos to use as writing prompts and have found some wonderful ones that truly speak to me. These people who take those photos have a creative mind and a wonderful ‘eye’ for what makes great photos. I am so grateful. Makes my writing process so much easier when you have excellent photos to work from.

9. I’m thankful for polite people. It’s amazing how many people are out there that would not say ‘please’ or ‘thank you’ if their life depended on it! Then you encounter some that just make you smile, they are pleasant, polite and have a smile for you. I try to be like that. To everyone. You never know when someone is having a terrible day and a nice smile and thank you could make it so much nicer. Remember people, you might be having a tough day, but there is someone out there who is having it much worse. It takes less energy to smile than to frown. Why not make someone’s day today?

10. Last but certainly not least, I”m thankful for people who love me. They don’t want anything from me, they don’t have hidden agendas, they just love me for who I am. They know who they are. I just want to say thank you for loving me. I love you too.

Now go and think of what YOU are thankful for this weekend! I bet you can come up with some awesome things! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I enjoy reading, writing, and painting. I love animals and at present have one dog (Sam) and 2 cats (brother and sister, Notwen and Pouncer). I've lived in various places in the USA and now in Canada. I've always enjoyed watching life and people and have developed an appreciation for it all. My outlook is sometimes out of the normal.... but that's what makes things so interesting! I am always interested in the opinions of others. Everyone has their own outlook and it's always worthwhile to listen!

  1. It’s a beautiful list Jackie! I notice all the friendships you are grateful for. That’s wonderful. I’m so grateful to have you as a friend. But you put me walking on red hot coals (Swedish saying) on the first one ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you tiny! You of course our one of my bestest faraway friends ๐Ÿ™‚ All will be revealed in a few months. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This is an incredibly detailed and in-depth list. I really like it, and how you have a sprinkling of personal items mixed in with some which – whilst not generic – I guess don’t pertain specifically to you. Like politeness. A HUGELY awesome thing to be thankful for, yet so often overlooked.

Glad your long-term plans are coming together. It’s nice when you have that feeling of pending accomplishment ๐Ÿ™‚ Great stuff.

  3. This a great list. I like number nine especially. Why is it so difficult to be polite? Please, thank you and smiles are common courtesies that can put a bright spot in a dark day.

  4. You love it when a plan comes together, must be the A-Team adventurer in you. Great list and I agree with others about politeness, how hard is it I ask. Lots to think about Jackie, well done.

  5. very excellent listationing!! (our Lizzi) is rather, terribly remarkableโ€ฆno? this has become surely the best of all bloghops in the whole darn ‘sphere.*
You are truly in good company!

*I watch with amazement as the following grows, not just in terms of numbers (of bloggers) but of the wide variety of accomplishment

  6. I get ridiculously excited when a plan of mine actually comes to fruition. Having plans with a family of 8 is just asking for trouble.

It sounds like you are surrounded by many friends. Wonderful.

I am always grateful for politeness. It’s not natural for everyone, so when I see it, it makes me happy.

Thank you for joining in with us again this week! I’m glad you are enjoying the TToT.

  7. I love the thoughtful + thankful here. I’m happy I am a woman living in Canada too. Yes – there are challenges sometimes and nothing is perfect – but issues are nothing like what you described. Just awful.

I’m equally thankful for warm weather – and good luck with your plans that are coming together!

  8. This is by far an excellent list. Friends, people in your corner all of it. The internet is wonderful my bank has finally gotten on-line deposit. I was grumbling about them closing my nearest branch and the main reason I go to the branch is to make deposits. So woohooo there! I think we spoke about the rude people. It always amazes me when I encounter people who have no courtesy.

    1. The banks in canada have had online banking forever. Deposits, whatever, one nice thing I love. I hardly write checks as I can pay my bills online or we have debit cards that pretty much work for everything.
Friends are great. Yes I think we did speak about courtesy.

      1. We have online banking and I do all my business on line bill paying ect. . . The depositing of checks is new. My money is direct deposit but I get checks from my insurance company every now and then. So they just made my life easier.

  9. how can you NOT love a great plan that pays off? Will we hear about the outcome? I so agree about our status as women… we may have some fears because of gender but NOT like elsewhere in the world… makes me terribly sad.

    1. Oh I’m sure you all will hear about the outcome at some point. ๐Ÿ™‚
The status of women, girls world wide is a sad thing.

  10. I love this post. What a great list. It sure speaks to your heart. I’m glad all your plans and dreams are coming together (and I caught the A-Team reference as well). ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m certainly thankful to have met you. You are a good friend, Jackie, and although I must have made you crazy at times with my late-night emails, you never let me down. I have always been thankful for your words and encouragement.

Things are turning around here. Stress has lessened. I sat outside today to do some writing and map out the direction of the current book. Our “Jackie” character is such a hoot! It felt good to write, and I’m looking forward to getting this book finished this month. Hope you are well. When you have a chance to write, let me know if you’re working on any projects besides your blog. Hugs!!

    1. Thanks Maddie! Ha! and here I thought I was the only A team rememberer…is that a word? LOL
I’m thankful to have met you too lady. I will email you tomorrow.
I”m glad things are turning around for you! Less stress is a good thing. Can’t wait to read the next book too!

  11. Wonderful list. I make mine each day too. The more TRUE gratitude you have, to more good comes your way. There is a difference as you know. I have to wait MONTHS to find out what the news is??? I don’t think I can. I’m sitting on the edge of my seat here now! You have such a good heart, no wonder you are drawing good people to you. The best is yet to come. Hugs.

    1. thank you Marlene for your as always kind words. Yes, I’m afraid you will have to wait lol….
I agree with you, a person needs true gratitude. I think that’s part of karma, you get what you give.

  12. I’m so thankful for my friends – both in person and blogging ones as well. Friends make pretty much everything better. And you’re right – there is always a way to find things to be thankful for!

  13. It’s wonderful when you can write a list of things to be thankful for, Jackie. Too many times we see people talking about things they’re not happy about and this negativity is very draining! I love your list and I also love it when a plan comes together. Beautifully done! ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. Such a beautiful list! I think the quote at the end sums it up well: there’s ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Always.
