Sharing a Bit of Me with You ~~ 2014 Week 28

Another week is here and half gone. And another edition of Share Your World, courtesy of Cee is here. Come join in! It’s a great way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

Have you ever been a participant in a parade? What did you do?

No, I’m not one to draw attention to myself. I haven’t even seen that many parades, except for on TV. My mom always had to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade every year.

If you were handed free opera tickets, would you go or sell them? Why?

Oh, I would take them and go. Even though I don’t understand the languages usually, I love the singing, music and drama that goes with opera.

Why did you start your blog?

To write. That’s the short version. I love to write, always have. I had so many stories locked up inside and I needed to get them out. That first post was the scariest thing to do though. To hit that publish button and let it out into the world. I never really expected to get followers or people who liked what I wrote. But getting that first one, then another, then another. It was so exciting! I’ve ‘met’ so many wonderful, talented, big-hearted people on WP, that I just fell in love with the community. It’s been a wonderful ride so far, so I plan on doing this for a long time to come. (If my muse ever comes back from holiday LOL)

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

I pretty much broke away from any family traditions, many years ago. I don’t go to church so never had any of those. I have made some traditions of my own, so I guess they would be my personal traditions.  My favorite one? Well, it used to be a tradition of mine to buy a new Santa decoration every year. It didn’t have to be much, a small ornament, a little nick knack, some years I even painted a new one for my collection. I’ve gotten away from it the past few years, but that was always my favorite. I love the ‘idea’ of Christmas and Santa. I love all the different renditions of Santa around the world. I think it’s fascinating that one fictional (as far as we know) character is beloved worldwide. Now if we could just spread some of that love throughout the year, it would make a much nicer world.

  1. i was in a parade once, when I was at school there used to be a St Patrick’s day parade and there is a photo of me holding ribbon as part of our school banner in 1966, yes I was alive way back then. I agree with you about Christmas, it is special, it is exciting.

  2. I’m gld you hit publish, you should have seen me hovering over the publish button that first time. I like your Santa tradition, I had something similar. Every year I would buy a new horse ornament for my tree, then my grandmother took over. I stopped when we lost all the ornaments in a house fire, Maybe I need a new one.

    1. Hello Lois! So nice to see you again. 🙂
A small tradition is nice, it doesn’t have to cost a lot but its a feel good thing to do. At least for me it is.

      1. I’ve missed visiting you. I’ve been trying to add in little traditions that don’t cost anything and don’t add more need for storage around here. 😉

  3. I so look forward to these posts.Getting to know you better in little ways but I already know your heart. It’s kind and good. I’ve watched parades of antique cars in our neighborhood and the 4th of July parade the neighbors put together by driving lawn tractors, bicycles or whatever was available . Probably 15 families participated and it was fun to watch. Never been in one either.I’m with you there. Christmas it for me, much like for you. Sharing good feelings with all. I used to collect ornaments too but have not had a big enough tree in the last 4 years to put them all on so I stopped acquiring and started sharing. Much more fun. I love the festiveness of the season. I’m glad you started your blog. I love what you write. Hugs. MH

    1. Thank you so much Marlene, from one good heart to another. 🙂
Yes, I’ve watched small town parades before, I actually like them better than the big ones on tv.
I haven’t put up a tree in years, but I like Santas, they make me smile.
Sharing is a good thing. hugs back at you. ❤

  4. Well, you know about my Summer Solstice parade. There was at least one more when I was on the drill team. I remember it because it was a 100 degrees out and it was 5 miles long. Five miles!! And I had to do that same routine over and over, I thought I was going to throw up. Ah, the memories! Great questions. I’m glad you hit ‘publish’ too! Yay!!

  5. It is scary when you publish that first post isn’t it! And as you say, so exciting when people start following you. I still get a little apprehensive buzz every time I hit publish, I guess because I only do one post a week, it’s still a biggish deal for me each time! And I’m always appreciative when I see the comments starting to come in, I never take that for granted.

    1. Hello Vanessa! I never take comments or people reading my stuff for granted either, and it’s still a thrill! When hitting that publish button gets passe, is when we need to stop I think. Always good to see you Vanessa!

  6. I’ve never been in a parade, Jackie (and probably never will be!) 😉

The WP blogging community is wonderful and like many others here I’m so glad you pushed ‘publish’! 😀

  7. I had to smile when you described how you started blogging. It was identical to what I felt. Don’t worry, your muse will return from vacation when she has rested enough 🙂 I had forgotten that you are a painter too! Why not share some of your paintings and the stories that belong to them? Many hugs!

    1. My muse has run away and eloped with some stud and left me holding the bag so to speak LOL
Well sharing my art might be a good idea, I will have to think about that. Thanks tiny! 🙂
