A Piece of Me Goes a Long Way ~~~ Share Your World Week 43, 2014

Hello People! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was quiet, which was nice but rather boring.

Today I’m bringing you a little bit more about me, I know, you can hardly contain your excitement! Hey! Simmer down in the back!

Now where was I? Oh yes, Cee from Cee’s Photography has this weekly thing where she asks us 4 questions and we answer them. It’s a good way to get to know  your fellow bloggers. So why not join us? Just click on Cee’s name and see what this is all about. Also take a look around her blog will you, she has some fabulous pictures. Thanks, you guys are the best!

On to the questions for this week.

What is your favorite time of day?

Any time I’m breathing is a good time of day. Hahaha…..Seriously, I would have to say early morning. It’s quiet, the beginning of a new day where all things are still possible. I’m rested, looking forward to what the day brings. If it’s warm, sometimes me and my dog Sam will sit on the front porch and watch the day come in. It’s a very peaceful time of day for me.

What’s your favorite charitable cause and why?

I don’t give to charities, not because I don’t want to, it’s because I’m perpetually broke. If I did have the means to give, I’d probably give to no kill animal shelters for upkeep and adoption of animals to good homes. People charities I’m sad to say leave me angry, as most of the money goes to paying salaries and not to what the charity is supposed to be about. For me that’s not giving to charity, that’s just handing over my money to officials so they can drive new fancy cars. Nah, think I’ll skip that.

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

Well aren’t we getting personal?? LOL

Since I can’t do what I would really like to do on rainy days, the second best is to hunker down with a hot cup of coffee and a good book. Have silence in the house, just to hear the rain in the background and enjoy some peace. A small slice of heaven.

Unless it’s a good storm. I love violent thunder storms, nothing better to get the blood flowing. Then I would shut off the lights and enjoy Mother Natures light show. Good times!

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

I prefer pens. They flow easily and smoothly and seems to help with my penmanship. Plus I can buy some pretty colored ones.

So there you have a little more information about me. Don’t you feel better for knowing all that? LOL

  1. I gave the PG answer to the rainy day question. No need to remind myself even further that some things are not options right now 🙂

I am with you on the salaries vs. cause thing. I realize part of their job is to rally funds for the charity, but it doesn’t need to be to the tune of six figures as some have gone.

    1. I went PG to the rainy day question. Kind of LOL And nope it’s not an option for me either. Damn it. 🙂

I’m with you with the salaries! That’s another reason I don’t give.

  2. Nice answers J! As long as I’m not tired, I like early mornings and late nights – the times when most people are asleep and it is peaceful. My ideal functioning is to wake up early, go to bed late and have a lovely long afternoon nap, unfortunately my boss at work doesn’t quite appreciate my needs in this area, ah well…

In terms of charities, I used to think that way too, but I read something a while ago about how sometimes spending a high percentage on salaries can be justified when they are paying for really good people who know how to make a difference, so that the smaller amount that appears to be going to the actual cause is actually more wisely spent, compared to some charities where a much higher percentage is given to the cause, but the people administering it have no clue what they’re doing so money is just thrown at the cause and wasted. So you know, there are different ways of looking at it. But of course there’s the the other way of looking at things too – charity begins at home 😉

Thanks Vanessa, I do understand what you are saying.

  3. If you’re too broke to give financially to charities, give of your time. You’ll have a lot of fun and meet some great people, and all charities need volunteers all the time.

    1. Unfortunately I have very limited time as I take care of my husband who is almost bed ridden. Plus, I’m not much for volunteering. Too shy. Thanks for reading Russel, appreciate it.

      1. If you’re on Facebook, follow a few charities and share their posts, especially their fundraising posts, when you can. That’s another way to volunteer.

Sending you and your husband positive thoughts and good vibrations from here in San Diego.

  4. We are all such little voyeurs Jackie. We never get enough info on each other. 🙂 I liked all your answers. I thought it was way too late to join in at this point in time. I agree with most of your answers. I love to write with a purple pen in my journal. I do often write with pencil so i can make changes. I have an abundance of rainy days and have an abundance of things to do. It’s the choosing that’s hard. We don’t get much in the way of lightning and I’m glad. That stuff scares the S**t out of me. My gift giving is through the quilt group with fabric I have on hand and my own two hands. I donate to Salvation Army my extra stuff that is too good to throw out. I do give to animal rescue whenever possible or by taking a stray to the vet and finding a home for them. I would be willing to bet you give in ways not typical as well. You just think it’s money that makes us charitable. I’m sensing a very charitable heart there. Don’t shortchange yourself.

    1. Aw, thank you Marlene. I do pick up strays and make sure they get taken care of and adopted when possible. I myself have adopted lots of stray animals. I also give to Salvation Army things I don’t need anymore if they are in good condition. So I suppose I do give in my own ways. I have also shopped at Goodwill or Salvation Army so I suppose that money goes to help. I recycle bottles and cans at a recycle center that only hires handicap people to give them jobs. I guess I ‘give’ more then I thought. Thanks for that Marlene. Big hugs.

  5. I enjoy a good thunder storm too, though they’re few and far between. And while I’m enjoying it, I worry that lightning is going to blow up something I really need, like the TV 🙂

  6. Lots in common here: love the thunder storm, use a pen and give to a no kill animal shelter. Correction: Bumble does. Every penny from his book. On the early morning thing, I can understand it, but for me it’s more the quiet evening. I’m practicing though to get up before sunrise to see P.O. with his first fish of the day…

    1. I used to be an early riser and a late go to bed person, now that I’m older it seems my early rising is not happening so much lol
Bumble is a good dog, to give all his proceeds to the shelter. He has a special place in doggy heaven waiting for him, but not too soon. 🙂
