Abandoned
Toys left on a window ledge
bright colors dim with age
waiting for little hands
to grab and play again
The sky cries in sympathy
it’s tears streaking dusty panes
painted smiles shine on through time
Wood, plastic, tin, they wait in vain
Abandoned, who knows how long ago
but memories were made in distant past
childish laughter filled the air
Happiness flowed within those toys
So, they wait, these abandoned toys
for all those little girls and boys
to once more hold them in their hands
and giggle with abandoned joy
A beautiful poem, Jackie! A bit melancholic but has a joyful undertone, blessed memories and hope for the future. Hugs to you my friend β€

thank you tiny. It was a bit melancholic, but so is the picture, but I couldn’t go too deep into it, had to shine a bit of hope. Hugs to you also β€

That’s beautiful Jackie. Reminds me of those Christmas stories of abandoned and neglected toys.

Yes I suppose it does in a way. I didn’t think of it when writing, but I can see it now. Thank you Michael.

Nicely written even though it has an undertone of saddness. The sadness of lonely toys with no children to play with. You leave us hoping but until then it is sad. I like it Jackie.

Thank you Kim. It is kind of sad I suppose. I always think when I see a toy just laying around that they are waiting, for the child to come and play again.

Lucky for the toys perhaps.

Bleak photo. You did well with what you had to work with. Kind of thought of your art supplies waiting for you to come back to them. You do so well with poetry. I’m envious, can you tell. π

I think I’m not so good with poetry, I find if I write what I feel, with less filler words, it seems to work. But hey, I’m an amature. π

Well, I must be an amateur reader because I like the way you write them. π

As long as we like them, and I do, it’s all good. π
