Silly Sunday ~~~ Daylight Saving Edition

Hello people!

Hope this weekend was a great one for you. As you know, most of us are on Daylight Saving time. We had to set our clocks one hour ahead. I don’t understand why we are still doing this old practice. Makes no sense anymore. At least to me. What is your opinion?

          1. In Queensland they don’t have day light saving so they are always an hour behind during the summer months. At the time that decision was made there was a rather autocratic Premier of that state who, it was said, thought the sun shone out of his bum and he wasn’t getting up an hour earlier for anyone.

  1. DST still exists because we are slaves to the clock. We could always adjust our schedules to the sun… but no, we adjust the clock to the sun instead. Farmers may have started it, but lots of new reasons have popped up to justify it… including energy conservation (by having more daylight in the evenings rather than early mornings when most people are still asleep), and I think they’re all silly. I’d be happy to see them just pick one time to stay on year round….

  2. There are constant calls to abolish it here but daylight hours are quite short in the north of Scotland, so without changing the clocks you end up with lots of school kids walking to/from home in the dark (whichever way round it is), which leads to more kids getting hit by cars.

So at least we have some sort of reason for it.

  3. I’m with you on this one. We didn’t have DST in Arizona and I loved not having to worry about changing every clock. I’m up early and liked the sun early. Now it’s dark again when I wake up at the same time no matter what the clock says. It’s bad enough that we have different time zones to keep track of. Loved Maxine again. Running her mouth is her exercise. πŸ™‚

    1. Maxine and I are twins! LOL So true about the different time zones, wasn’t so bad back in the day of non-internet, but now the world is so much smaller than it used to be. Thanks Marlene!

  4. These gave me a smile…I don’t like losing this one hour! I’m still feeling it today and this whole week πŸ™‚

    1. Aw, thanks Frank! I’m trying to get back into visiting some of my favorites and your name came first to mind! You’ll be seeing more of me again. Yes, DST is interesting in it’s history. Thanks for the link!

  5. I’m somewhat indifferent towards it, but those comics etc that you posted here are really funny! If daylight savings didn’t exist, then neither would those funnies – did you think about that?

    1. I did not think of that Vanessa! Of course, if there wasn’t a DST, then I’m sure I could have found funnies for something else. There is always a reason to smile. πŸ™‚
