My Incomplete List of Small Pleasures ~~ June 23, 2016

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so today I thought would be a good day to do My Incomplete List of Small Pleasures.

The Incomplete

  • Friends….they make me laugh, smile, think and enjoy. I have some very good friends on here. Thank you all! ❀
  • Sunshine…’s hard to feel too down when I step outside and the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. I’m so glad I can enjoy it all.
  • Writing….it has saved my sanity. It helps me feel like I’ve accomplished something in life. Finally.
  • Music….When I’m feeling really low as I have the past few weeks since mom died, music has soothed me. I listen to it and it helps calm my soul.
  • Reading….I’ve been doing a whole lot of reading lately. If I’m not listening to music, I’m reading. I’ve been reading books that take me away for a while, that pull me into another world and let me forget about some things.
  • My dog Sam….. Most of you know how much I love this little dog. He seems to know when I need extra attention. He will even let me hug him (he hates getting hugged). At night when we first go to bed, we have this little hugging session. Then he lays as close to me as he can and lays his head on my stomach. It makes me feel better.

  • Good hearted people…… They are out there folks. After I read about all the horrible things people can do to others my heart warms when I find one that is friendly and warm-hearted.
  • The inventor of the electric fan……. Really. It’s been a bit on the warm side here this week and I have fans all over the house. Especially in my bedroom. Not only do they cool me off, they provide that necessary ‘white sound’ that I need to go to sleep. So yay, Mr. Inventor! (I would Google who invented it, but I’m lazy)
  • List posts……..Because without them, my blogging days would be even less lately. ha!

What’s your pleasures today?

  1. Air conditioning. We hit 100 degrees here in the Upstate region of South Carolina. That’s over 10 degrees above normal. Also, glad this area in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains is blessed with low humidity. Reason to smile. πŸ™‚

  2. And I can totally get behind your dog Sam! I feel like I know him well πŸ™‚ And the routine you describe happens every night between me and Dylan too! Happy you enjoy summer ❀

  3. Absolutely great list. I like your dog, Sam too. I agree there are more goodhearted people out there then bad people. Just because I know you have your hands full enough already I did this for my good friend. “Between the years 1882 and 1886, New Orleans resident Schuyler Skaats Wheeler invented a fan powered by electricity. It was commercially marketed by the American firm Crocker & Curtis electric motor company. In 1882, Philip Diehl introduced the electric ceiling fan.” We thank them very much. I have a fan in my bedroom at night too to sleep by. I could live without AC before the fan.

    1. Thanks Marlene for the research! πŸ™‚ Yes, we thank those gentlemen very much. I could and have gone without AC, but like you I can’t go without my fan. Big hugs!

  4. An actual working central air system. I’ve had to deal with 8 summers using a swamp cooler, that never cooled very well and always broke down at least twice a season once the apartment complex finally got around to turning it on. The last couple summers were spent with a central air system that ran *all the time*, cost a fortune, but still left our apartment in the upper 80’s to mid 90’s most of the time. So glad to have moved to this new apartment complex!

    1. I had a swamp cooler once in Texas. Never again. It was better than nothing though. I do love my AC. Thanks for stopping in! πŸ™‚

  5. The sad part was we were so glad to be leaving the swamp cooler behind when we moved to our last apartment complex, and then we ended up missing it because our air conditioning was so inadequate and/or broken. I will never take a working central air system for granted again.

  6. Love the good hearted people. We tend to focus on the scoundrels in the world and forget, in my opinion, that most people are genuinely good.
