Share Your World – Week 41 2016

Today I’m going to share another session of Cee’s Share Your World. Why not visit Cee and see what it’s all about and read other bloggers great answers.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

I’ve never experienced love at first sight, so I’m undecided. I know many people have said they believe as it has happened to them. I’ll keep an open mind about it.

Your first car?

My first car was bought when I was in my mid-twenties. It was a baby blue 1970 something Mustang. I paid two hundred dollars for it through my father-in-law at the time. He was an insurance adjuster in Texas and he got it because it was hail damaged. He wrote it off and I bought it. I loved that car. It looked like crap on the outside but that thing had a big engine in it and it would go!

Who taught you to ride a bike? How did it go?

I really don’t remember who taught me to ride a bike. Probably my sister or older kids in the neighborhood. I rode other kid’s bikes until my dad bought me my own when I was sixteen. It must have gone ok, as I managed to ride it and not crash it. Much…….

Ugly and rich or beautiful and poor?

I have never been materialistic and I’m used to being poor so I guess it’s probably ‘average looking and poor’. Ha!

What was the first dish you could cook?

I began cooking at a pretty young age, so I’m guessing it was eggs or something equally easy. I was cooking whole meals by the age of ten and as that was many, many moons ago, I don’t really remember. I also took cooking in Home Ec (when it was called that and when it was taught, again a long time ago!).

Hope you enjoyed the questions and answers today. So tell me….what was the first dish YOU cooked and when?

  1. Loved your answers, Jackie. Me, Ugly and rich would work fine. Money can fix a lot of ugly except the heart and mind. I don’t know about love at first sight either. Not something I experienced either. A mustang is a great car and the first thing I cooked at 8 was eggs with syrup. I had to make sure my sister and brother ate. At 10, mom taught me to cook a couple of meals as she was planning to go home to Germany as her mother was dying. She didn’t make it back but I learned how to cook. 🙂

      1. Oh, I wasn’t talking about men! I was talking about me. I’d rather be ugly and rich than beautiful and poor. I don’t know about love. Never had it. Just from my kids and that’s not the same. Maybe next lifetime.

  2. What is this “cooking” you speak of?

I probably wouldn’t loathe being poor so much if I was beautiful and had things just given to me for being such a font of gorgeousness 😀

  3. I guess ugly but not rich describes me. However, I’m not poor either, in fact I’m rich in ways other than money. 🙂 I could cook scrambled eggs at about eight or nine and it remains one of my favourite things to eat even now. My mum used to let me make little cakes from a packet and ice them without her supervision when I was about ten.
I fell in love with my husband at first sight – now I sometimes wonder what all the fuss was about! But I still love him. 🙂
I learned to ride a bike the same way I’ve learned a lot of things – by watching others. My dad took me up the road with my bike and told me to get on and pedal and he would run along with me holding me up. Off I went and soon left him behind, not realising he was not holding on, but that was ok. My first car never happened until I was in my fifties. Although I’d been driving for many years, I always drove other people’s cars – first my dad’s and then my husband’s. Until one of our sons wanted to learn to drive. I bought an old VW Polo because our family car cost too much to insure for him. I loved that car because it was the first car that I owned; I didn’t care that the passenger window didn’t open and that the heater burned my legs 🙂

    1. Great answers, Jeanette. 🙂 Being poor is relative I think. I don’t have money, but I have other things. Once I didn’t have anything. But things pass.
