I Don’t Belong
I don’t belong….
to the here and now
I don’t belong….
to where or when
I don’t belong….
to her or him
I don’t belong….
to them.
I don’t belong….
and I know not why
I don’t belong….
and no one cares
I don’t belong….
the mind screams silently
I don’t belong….
the heart breaks loudly
I don’t belong….
I never did
I don’t belong….
I never will
I don’t belong….
I never tried
I don’t belong….
do you?

I enjoy reading, writing, and painting. I love animals and at present have one dog (Sam) and 2 cats (brother and sister, Notwen and Pouncer). I've lived in various places in the USA and now in Canada. I've always enjoyed watching life and people and have developed an appreciation for it all. My outlook is sometimes out of the normal.... but that's what makes things so interesting! I am always interested in the opinions of others. Everyone has their own outlook and it's always worthwhile to listen!

I agree with Noelle. You belong in so many other ways too. Beautifully written, Jackie ๐

The question is ‘where?’ There are lots of places I don’t belong. Most of them are places I wouldn’t want to be. The opposite is true too.
At the very least, methinks you belong just beautifully here. ๐

Thank you, Kate. Where? Hm, good question. I’m not sure where. I know it’s not ‘there’. ๐

Yup, I get it. I always lament that I got dropped off on the wrong planet. Always one step off. Square peg, round hole. But since I’m here, I’ll hang on for the ride till it’s over. Well written from this person that cannot do poetry. You belong to that group for certain. I think those feelings are part and parcel of most writers. We keep looking for our tribe.

That’s a good way of describing things, Marlene….just one step off. Not one step behind or before….just off. I think I’m a tribe of one. ๐
