I Am Who I Am

Welcome to my blog.

This blog is a mixture of old and new. It has plenty of old content since I’ve been blogging for quite a number of years.

In 2019 I was taking care of my sick husband when he died unexpectedly. While I was dealing with that, Covid came and devoured the world in its own dark cloud. So, I decided to turn my blog into something uplifting and light.

We are all going through some kind of struggles, some kind of strife and so I wanted to oversee a blog of light. I decided to write about how strong people can be, and how light and love can be a guiding light in the darkness.

Now we come to today. As you could tell from the name of my blog, “The Last Chapter”. I have come to the last chapter of this blog. I don’t know how long it will last but I do know it will be the end.

You see, I have terminal cancer.

I have Mesothelioma to be precise. There is no cure. It’s a rare cancer caused by being exposed to asbestos at some point in my life. It’s really rare in women. The big question with all my doctors, nurses, and the few friends that know is: “When was I exposed?”

I have no idea! The sneaky thing about Mesothelioma is that it can lay dormant for decades. So, my best guess is I was exposed as a child.

Anyway, I’ll get into all that as I go on.

This blog is going to act as my cancer journal. I will write in it as often as I can…until I can’t anymore. I’m hoping that writing everything down will help me cope but also that it will help others in some small ways to cope with their health issues too. Whether it be cancer, lupus, fibromyalgia, or whatever they may be dealing with.

This journal won’t always be an easy ride. I am going to write about the good, the bad, and the ugly side of cancer of this type. I will start from the beginning of how and when I found out until…….like I stated… until I can’t write anymore.

I would be honored if you followed along with me on “My Last Chapter”.

Here is a brief biography……

I live in Canada but am originally from the states. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and spent more than twenty years in Texas. I’ve always loved to read and write stories. If my head wasn’t buried in a book reading, it was buried in notebooks, writing. I have a fascination with the written word. I’ve always wanted to write a book and now that I have, (I’ve written two!) I’m more in love with books than ever. For this part of my life I live in Alberta, Canada with memories of my late husband. I have one old cat and my soul dog, Sam.

  1. An Alberta writer! wow. so am I – that is, I was until I moved back to Switzerland where I’ve lived twice before. But I’m still an Alberta girl inside. Look forward to reading more of your writing.

    1. Thank you so much for nominating me for this. I’ve been doing this blog for a long time now and at first I accepted awards every time but now I’m letting some of the younger blogs get the glory. Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it! 🙂
