Welcome to my blog.
This blog is a mixture of old and new. It has plenty of old content since I’ve been blogging for quite a number of years but I have decided after the last few years of being away to come back new and different.
The last three or four years has been dark and full of turmoil. I was taking care of my sick husband, then he died unexpectedly. While I was dealing with that, Covid came and devoured the world in it’s own dark cloud. After almost three years of dark, gloom and despair and lots of talks with a few friends, I decided to pull myself and as many readers as I could out of the dark and into more light.
The new direction for my blog will be all things positive or as my new blog title says…..Life, Love and Strength. We are all going through some kind of struggles, some kind of strife and so I wanted to oversee a blog of light. I decided to blog about how strong people can be, how light and love can be a guiding light in the darkness.
As for the worlds woes, well they won’t reach this blog.
I won’t talk about politics, religion or Covid and vaccinations. So much vitrol is already being discussed about these things, this blog is going to be a refuge from this. A place you can relax, smile and let your worries rest for another time.
So, come join me and others while we walk on the lighter, brighter side of life!
Here is a brief biography……
I live in Canada but am originally from the states. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and spent more than twenty years in Texas. I’ve always loved to read and write stories. If my head wasn’t buried in a book reading, it was buried in notebooks, writing. I have a fascination with the written word. I’ve always wanted to write a book and now that I have, (I’ve written two!) I’m more in love with books than ever. For this part of my life I live in Alberta, Canada with memories of my late husband, two old cats and my own furry dog sidekick, Sam. The cats and dog are alive, in case that wasn’t clear. 😉

haha! There’s that accent again! ah yes, I have been accused of being a dreamer as if it was a bad thing also. I think that is the ying/yang of life, some of us are dreamers while other are not. Truthfully, give me a dreamer anytime. They take you on journeys that never would happen otherwise.

Greetings from Australia,
There is nothing wrong with dreaming. As a deep thinking individual I often ponder at many levels with a childlike innocence yet tempered with age old wisdom. It takes many hours of pensive thinking, surrounded by beautiful nature to be at peace. And when the right moment arrives, I love to write my experience down, which are nothing but the creative outlet of an imaginative mind. “To breathe is to write” is a beautiful quote. All the best with your writing.
God bless

Hi, Jackie: Thanks for your nice comment of the cover of my upcoming mystery novel. I appreciate it! I’m still trying to figure out how to “like” or “friend” people from my Facebook author’s page; it doesn’t work like a personal page. Any ideas? –Michael Helms

Hi there! As far as I know a business page like our author pages does not allow us to ‘friend’ someone. You should be able to ‘like’ it though. I believe you all ready have from linkedIn. I have two facebook accounts. One is my ‘author’ page which won’t allow me to ‘friend’ someone. Then the other is my regular kind of facebook which does allow ‘friends’. That is the main reason I have two accounts. Hope this helps Michael.

Hi Jackie! I’ve seen you on so many blogs I follow and always enjoy your comments so I thought I’d stop by. I’m also thinking of doing Friday Fictioneers, but I have to admit fiction is not my strong suit. But it could be fun! I look forward to following!

Hi Deanna! Welcome and thank you! Friday Fictioneers is a great thing to do whether you write fiction or not. It helps tighten up your writing which can only help in whatever genre you write in. So please give it a try. We are a bunch of nice helpful writers and always welcoming. I will be by some time today to check your blog out. Again thank you!
