The 15 Questions Tag

Hello people!

I know I haven’t shown up for a while with a new post. Although I’ve been busy. I do have a couple of things I have been working on, but they aren’t ready to be posted yet. One is another chapter to my story ‘The Man in the Fedora’. So stay tuned!

For now, I am stealing an idea from Mer over at Knocked Over by a Feather. She of course got it from someone else. It seems to be the go to post for us that have nothing otherwise for today. 😉

We answer 15 questions. I thought the questions were pretty good ones. So here we go!

15-questions-tag

What do you think you can do but can’t?

Well, I had to think about this one. Is it a trick question? LOL

I think I can do what I could do 20 years ago, but I can’t. I’m not as young, agile or have the want to that I had back then. Damn, it’s hard getting old. Some days I find just getting out of bed a trial. (By the way, my new mattress is oh so comfy! I had to get used to it! Isn’t that funny?)

What’s a difficult word for you to pronounce?

I find that I have become adept at using different words that I CAN pronounce. There are words that seem to get me every time. Like, cacophony, I never get that right! Or, entrepreneurship. I still can’t say it right the first time.

What are your favorite TV shows from your childhood?

The memories come sweeping back. Let’s see, The A Team, Twilight Zone, Taxi, The Carol Burnett Show, Kung Fu, just to name a few.

What are your virtues and vices?

Virtues; honesty, loyalty, trustworthy.

Vices; my temper, sarcastic, sometimes I’m a bit of a nitpick. oh, and I also like to play devil’s advocate.

What’s more important: love, fame, power, or money?

Love is more important, but I wouldn’t mind having some money for a change, you know, just to see what it’s like.

If you could live in any era/time period, when would it be and why?

Mer said the 60’s and I kind of agree. I also always wanted to try the 20’s, before the depression. Seemed like a fun time to be in. Think of flappers and a more innocent time.

If you had to redo your entire wardrobe with 2 stores, what would they be and why?

Well, this one was hard because I hate to shop, especially clothes. So I had to really think about it. I do know of an online store I love called OneStopPlus. I have found things to wear that actually fit a vertically challenged person such as myself! I can order pants that I don’t have to hem! Plus their t-shirts come long, just like I love them. They are reasonably priced even with shipping and they have a wide assortment of things to choose from. The other store would probably be a thrift store.

Can you recall what you were doing a year ago on this day?

More than likely just what I am doing today. Blogging, taking care of my disabled husband and assorted critters.

Do you have reoccurring dreams? If so, explain?

I do have a few recurring dreams. The first one is that I win the lottery. I have been having this dream for the last 5 years or so. At least once a week I have that dream, I win about 5 million and my family is on the phone wanting part of it and I tell them to kiss my butt. LOL I know sounds terrible, but only if you didn’t know my family.

Another one is I am talking to my Dad. He passed about 11-12 years ago. We are having a conversation. The conversations are usually about fate, our ability to change, and various other topics. I always feel so close to him with these dreams. It’s a nice feeling.

What’s your horoscope?

I’m a Virgo with Leo tendencies. Roar! LOL

Virgo Horoscope for February 19 2015: Family gives you a sense of structure and permanence. Turn to your relatives if you are feeling restless. Are you estranged from your kin? Create a support network consisting of friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Everybody should belong to a tribe. When they don’t, feelings of vulnerability can be overwhelming. Fortunately, you have many fine qualities that people admire. Your wit, intelligence and practicality will make you a valued member of a distinguished community.

What does your dream bedroom look like?

This is what it would look like! Perfect!

What position do you sleep in?

I’m a side sleeper. Lately though I have caught myself sleeping on my back. Never did before. As long as I sleep, who cares!

What are your all-time favorite films?

For me this is a tough one as I don’t watch movies very often. Hardly never, in fact. But, a couple of movies I saw years ago comes to mind.

A Christmas Carol with George C Scott

Anything with Jackie Chan, not because he has a great name (even though he does). Because he’s funny and I love to watch his fight scenes.

What makeup are you currently wearing?

None. Haven’t since I had a job outside the home. Au Natural baby!

Do you have neat handwriting? Show us!

Not sure if it’s neat or not. But, it’s mine!

I’ve Got To Be Me ~~~ Share Your World, Week 4, 2015

Hello people! I do hope all those in the wake of Storm Juno are doing well today. Did that storm actually do anything? How’s things by all of you?

This week is another question and answer session made possible by Cee, of Cee’s Photography. Why not pay her a visit and say hi! Also, check out her awesome photos.

(awesome song by the legendary Sammy Davis, Jr. )

Where did you live at age five?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

I lived in a haunted house in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was an interesting house to live in. No, I don’t live there now and haven’t for many years. I haven’t even lived in Wisconsin for many years. I’ve traveled around quite a bit since I was 5 years old.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

I would like to think I would take the opportunity presented to me. But, knowing myself as I do, I probably wouldn’t go. I don’t enjoy parties or any large gatherings. The introvert in me. I feel out-of-place and awkward.

My childhood home which was haunted via google maps.
My childhood home which was haunted via google maps.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

I grew up in the biggest city in Wisconsin. No, I didn’t enjoy it and got out as soon as I was able to. I’ve also lived in Ft. Worth, Texas, another large city, and no didn’t enjoy that either. I have most enjoyed living in smaller towns. Like now, where I live in Canada is a place that is just the right size. Big enough to have the conveniences that I enjoy, but still retain that small town flavor. The people here are friendly and outgoing. I like it here, except for the winters. Can’t have everything I guess!

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I had always wanted to join the Navy and have a military career. That was nixed with my hearing problems. So because of my great love for reading, I decided I wanted to become a writer of great books. I’m still working on that dream. 🙂

Other than that I was always open to possibilities. You just never know what’s around the corner.

What did you think you wanted to be when you were a kid? Did you become that?

I Love How You Love Me ~~~ Share Your World, Week 3, 2015

Hello People!

Back for some more of me, eh? Good for you! I love my readers.

This week Cee from Cee’s Photography gives us some more great questions to answer. If you want to know what this is all about, go over to Cee’s and join! You might also want to look around as she has some fantastic photos to share. Now on with the love fest!

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

Most people would say someone famous. A writer, a singer, a celebrity. Me, I would want some of my blogging buddies over for dinner. I want to meet them in real life, become best buds not only here in the virtual world, but in reality too. I think we would have a blast! We could start out cooking together, eating together and of course cleaning up together. We would laugh and joke and cry about some of our problems. It would all be great fun. Just to name a few, Maddie, Lois, J (Sheena, PunkRocker), Tiny, Michael, Mer, Evil Squirrel, Marlene, and anyone else who wants to come! Let’s have dinner, drinks (for those of us who imbibe), laughs, good times! (If I missed putting you down, I’m sorry, just sign up and let’s have dinner!)

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

I sing to myself all the time. Softly though, as I don’t want anyone to hear me. To someone else? Never! My goodness, you would NOT want to hear me sing. Just to give an example about how bad I am, last time I sang out loud (I was alone) my cat Pouncer attacked me! LOL True story.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I would love to have the ability to write how I want to write. I’m always working on my craft, but it never reaches the quality I want. I want to convey so much more in my writing than I’m able to now, not for riches or fame, for the ability to reach people and make them feel good, or happy, or forget their problems for just a little while. I want to be that kind of writer.

What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

Rape. I hate when people joke about it. It is no way, in any shape or form, funny. Next on my list would be animal cruelty or child abuse. How can any of this be funny? Or joked about?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for good friends, who have helped contribute to a fundraiser for my new mattress. You kind people simply amaze me with how generous you are, even though some of you don’t always have enough for yourselves. I’m so close to my goal. I am dreaming about that new mattress and finally a good night’s sleep. So please, if anyone can help me out, click on the sleeping lady in my sidebar and read about my fundraiser, help if you can. I love you guys!

I Gotta Be Me!!! ~~~ Share Your World, Week 2, 2015

Hello People! Hope your week is going great! If not, I hope it gets better.

Now for some question and answers courtesy of Cee, over at Cee’s photography. She does this every week and it’s a great way to find new blogger friends or find out more about old blogger friends. So why not pop over there and give it a look? Join us! Thanks.

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

I’m a bit of both I think. I’ll give you a hug if you hug me first, but I very rarely, if ever initiate it on my own. The introvert in me, I think. I love hugs. So come on, give me a hug!

2

What’s your favorite ice-cream flavor?

The few times a year I have ice cream I will usually go with something with nuts in it. I love Rocky Road, or mint chocolate chip, something along those lines.

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?

I enjoy doing both. I have slacked on the physical exercising since I hurt my knee months ago. Now I’m just lazy and I need to get out of that. As for the mind, I do lots of puzzles, reading, quizzes, word games, that sort of thing to try to keep it sharp. Plus, I love the challenge. I do it for my mind every day. Now I got to get my body on board.

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person? Why?

Probably more of a dog person. Although I love cats too. I better, since I have two of them critters. But, Sam, my dog is my buddy. He’s a little character, with a sharp mind and he’s funny. All these people saying dogs don’t have characters, well, they haven’t met my Sam. 😉

Basically though, I’m an animal person. I love all kinds.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I usually don’t answer this question, as last year was a super tough one for me. This year is starting out so much better, and it’s early yet! I am grateful for friends far and wide who have helped me and have promised to help me in the future. You people are the best. If it wasn’t for you I don’t know how lonely I would be. I also want to thank all of you that have contributed to my fundraiser for a mattress and fridge. You have made this year start out awesome! I have a deep respect and love for all of you. Thank you so much. You have no idea how this will help. (If you are wondering about my fundraiser, please click the sleeping lady in my sidebar and it will take you to my fundraiser page and that explains it all. Thank you.)

I’m looking forward to more writing this year and better sleep!

A New Year, A New Me! ~~ Share Your World, 2015 Week 1

Hello people!

Ok, it’s not a new me, it is however a new year! So, the title wasn’t a complete fabrication. Cee, over at Cee’s Photography has once again asked us 4 questions. We answer them and get to know our fellow bloggers a bit more. Nice, eh? Well, go over there and see what it’s all about!

How do you get rid of pesky phone calls from telemarketers?

I just say, “not interested” and hang up. I used to have fun with some, I even wrote about one incidence where I pretended to be a little kid. I had major fun with that one! That was a few years ago. When I was younger, yet still a full-grown adult, people who didn’t know me, like telemarketers would mistake me for a young child on the phone. I have that kind of voice. So one day I decided to just go with it and that story came about.  If you would like to read it (it’s funny!) go here.

What are you a “natural” at doing?

Besides getting into trouble? ha!

That’s a hard question when I sit and think about it. Cooking is what comes to mind first. I’ve been cooking on my own since about that age of 10 or so. I don’t often make things that are not edible. I rarely taste as I cook either. So seasoning comes ‘natural’ to me.

Maybe painting. I taught myself to paint years ago after my ex Mother in law gave me a set of oil paints and brushes as a Christmas gift. I always admired people who could paint pictures. I’ve never had formal lessons or training, but think I do pretty good. I gave up the oils and exclusively use acrylics now. I really need to get back into painting again.

How often do you get a haircut?

Rarely. The last time I went to a salon and got it cut has to be more than 8 years ago. I was visiting my mom and she talked me into it. I only had a few inches taken off, because I don’t like short hair on me.  I trim it myself now and then, but it’s usually in a ponytail. The only time I let it out of its ponytail is when I go to bed, it’s almost to the middle of my back right now.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “fun”?

Writing, music, reading and playing on the computer. Yeah, I’m a wild child. LOL

Baby, Let’s Do It One More Time! ~~ Share Your World, Week 48

Hello People!

So, you want to know more about me. Good grief! Don’t you know enough?? Ok, ok, my fans awaits! Onward!

You can blame Cee over at Cee’s Photography for this! She’s to blame! She twisted my arm into doing this! Well, ok, not really, but I thought you all could do with a bit of drama today. No? Hm, everyone’s a critic.

Yeah, yeah, I’m getting on with things.

What are your favorite toppings on pizza?

I’m a classic kind of girl. (Not to be confused with classy, HA!) We have a place here called Panago’s Pizza. They make the best pizza. My order is always the same. Panago Classic, which has sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, green pepper, onion, and black olives. I always order extra cheese too. Yummy! Oh, on a thin crust.

I want to learn more about …

Writing, painting and anything else that sounds interesting to me.

What are three places you’ve enjoyed visiting?

The Rocky Mountains here in Alberta. Amazing, beautiful and breathtaking. New Mexico and any other place I’ve been. I mean each place has its own kind of beauty and interesting places to see.

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?

Well, I don’t often have cake or cupcakes. When I want to really treat myself I will buy a cupcake over cake anytime. I love some frosting, some others not so much. I don’t eat one or the other, I eat them together. After all, it’s not an oreo cookie.

So what’s your favorite dessert?

Cee over at Cee’s Photography is our host for this weekly getting to know you party. Why not go over there and join us? Or, go visit Cee and view some of her beautiful photos. You’ll enjoy yourself. But hey, wait a minute!!! First, you got to read all about me! So get busy will ya?

this is close to what my childhood kitchen sink looked like
this is close to what my childhood kitchen sink looked like

What is your most vivid memory of the kitchen in your childhood?

The most vivid memories of my childhood kitchen is that it didn’t have any counters! It had a walk in pantry, as it had been built in the late 1890’s when they had pantries. So if you wanted to do anything you had to do it on the kitchen table. Everything from the dishes to food items were stored in the pantry. The sink was a big old-fashioned porcelain one, with just enough room to wash the dishes and drain them on the attached drain board that was also porcelain, it was one big sink. I remember having to stand on a stool to wash the dishes. We started young with chores at our house.

As a child, who was your favorite relative?

Oh, this one is easy.  It was and still is my Aunt Nene. She was my dad’s youngest sister. I think I wrote about her once before, but I’m too lazy to find the post. LOL She had bright red hair, blue eyes and a mouth worse than any sailor. I love her to pieces. She didn’t take guff from anyone, but she also had a soft heart for a lonely little girl. I’m not sure if she’s still alive as I sadly lost contact with her years ago. I’ve tried to find her, but with no luck. She’d be about 80 or 82 now I think.

What did you or did not like about the first apartment you ever rented?

I enjoyed the freedom of having my first apartment. I shared it with a girlfriend. The thing I hated about the first apartment that I rented is that I had really strange neighbors. Especially one man who lived next door.  He always made a point of being outside when we got home from work to say hi, no matter the weather. Snow, rain, shine, he was there.

What kind of TV commercial would you like to make? Describe it.

As I don’t watch TV, I’m not sure. How about if I could get rid of commercials? Now that is one thing I could live with! A commercial about getting rid of  commercials LOL

“Ladies and gentlemen! Don’t you wish you could do away with those pesky commercials? The ones that make your children whine for days for those expensive toys that break in one day? Or wouldn’t it be nice that the sound level on your TV stays the same at all times? Without those damn commercials coming on at least 10 notches higher? Now you can! With my super, duper, spray on, you can wipe those commercials right off your screen!’

Share Your World – 2014 Week 23

Cee from Cee’s Photography has asked us 4 more questions this week. It’s up to us to answer them. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to get to know fellow bloggers. Why not come and join us?

Thanks Cee for some great questions again this week!

Would you rather be stuck in a small plane with mild turbulence for 2 hours or be a passenger in a car racing the Daytona 500?

I think I will have to choose the racing car in the Daytona 500. I’ve been in small passenger planes when they hit turbulence, it’s fun for about the first 5 minutes. Sort of like a carnival ride. But not 2 hours worth of fun. I think I would really be nauseous by that time. So I’ll take the race car, plus I like to go fast. So it’s a good choice for me!

alonechair

Would you rather be alone with nobody in the vicinity for one month or never be alone, not even for a minute for one month?

This one is easy to choose. I would much rather be alone with nobody in the vicinity for one month than never be alone for even a minute. Oh wow, talk about a way to drive me freaking nuts! I mean no alone time at all? Not even to go to the bathroom? No thanks! I would hurt someone.

I’ve been alone for long periods of time before and it doesn’t bother me. I like me, so I’m not afraid to be alone with me.

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?

Another easy choice for me. Definitely in a human size nest in a tree! I hate the thought of being underground so much I am not even going to be buried when I die! Cremation is the way to go for me and then scatter my ashes either in the woods, or if you can’t find the woods, a lone tree will do. How about the tree with my nest in it??  Works for me!

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

If it’s a long trip, taking turns driving is good. Or to be a passenger. I love to look at things during a long trip. For short trips it can be either way also, if it’s a place I know how to get to. I have a tendency of having ‘little adventures’ when I drive to someplace new. I don’t get lost you see, I just have small adventures. Ha!

Share Your World – 2014 Week 19

Cee has posted 4 more questions for this week on Share Your World. We answer the questions and blogger friends get to know more about us. Please join in if you are interested!

Thank you Cee for another week of fun questions!

Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?

Shopping!? Ugh! I hate shopping, unless it is in a bookstore, or antique shop. Now I could spend hours in a bookstore and I have! Wonderful place to be. I have spent hours in an Antique shop too, just browsing and wondering about the history of a piece that I’m drawn to. Nothing like looking at old things to spark the creative juices. Well, except when I look in the mirror LOL

I haven’t been to a park in years. I like walking around our garden parks. Taking in nature, listening to the birds. Now that’s my kind of mall!

What is the highest score you’ve ever made in bowling?  Actual or virtually played.

Well, I haven’t bowled in years. Sometimes I was good, sometimes I was terrible! Ok, truth is I was usually terrible! Like don’t ever stand behind me, cause the ball usually ends up that way, terrible. If I do manage to get the ball down the lane, I can usually hit the pins, sometimes. Not my cup of tea. Give me a card game like poker, now that I’m good at!

So I guess the highest I’ve gotten in actual bowling is something like 175 or so. Virtual, oh, I’m a pro in virtual. I used to have a bowling game that I played on the computer, I could regularly get a 300 game. My fingers didn’t get as sore either. haha!

Name the foreign countries you’ve been to.

That’s easy as I have never been overseas, yet. I’ve been to Mexico numerous times, I was born and raised in the states. Now for the moment I live in Canada. So 3 different countries.
